The Giant Turkey

Meet Gigantoraptor

This giant 'dino-bird' is previously discovered in 2005 in the Iren Dabasu Formation, Erlian basin, in Inner Mongolia. This dinosaur is known as an oviraptorid, a type of dinosaur known to have been nesting eggs around Asia. It is considered by scientist to have been the largest feathered creature alive. Before its discovery, the largest and heaviest known oviraptorid was Citipati , which Gigantoraptor was 3 times more. Following the fossils, scientist indicated that Gigantoraptor might have been omnivorous . It shows that Gigantoraptor was large enough to take down a tyrannosaur. For references go to BBC-Planet Dinosaur Episode 2- Feathered Dragons and Episode 6- The Great Survivors.  Also go to Dinosaur Revolution Episode 1- Evolution's Winners. Here are a few facts and images of Gigantoraptor.

Gigantoraptor

Name means: »giant thief«
Length: 8 m
Height: 4 m
Weight: 2 tons
Diet: carnivore (omnivore)
Time: Cretaceous (85-71 MYA)
Location: Inner Mongolia, Asia

BELIEF

An unexpected tourist, was sight-seeing around North America. An unusual flying object ( U.F.O ) suddenly appeared in his view. He was so shocked and astonished, he took a video of his sight. Unfortunately the U.F.O didn't last long in his video. He tried to spread the news. Some believed and some didn't. He was disappointed. He tried to find more proof. He interviewed other witnesses. And shared his alien encounter. They thought that this might be a sign that aliens would invade the planet. They spread the news and tell other people that the aliens might be on their way. The believers followed what they told. But the disbelievers ignored the warning and lived their own lives.

A mountain climber and her assistant, went for daily wander. Along their way, they saw something approaching they witnessed a tall man-like ape, doubt as Bigfoot/ Sasquatch/ Yeti or etc. They also brought a recorder, just in case, and also took a video for evidence. When they went to tell everyone about the monster. Some were shocked, scared and believed of the existence. But some believed it was just a man in suit. The witnesses went off to find more clues. Luckily, they discovered huge footprints, and a passage of which the creature might have made. They took more photos, also with the photos of other encounters, as proof and evidence. But some still ignored their existence.

A Scottish resident, was photographing the extraordinary scenery of a well-known lake. From the distance, he saw something popping out of the water. He couldn't clearly describe what it was, but he did got some photos. It was something that he had never seen before. It photos shows that the 'thing' had a long snake-neck and a head appeared like horse. Some doubt this 'thing' as a plesiosaur, a sea reptile which lived during the time of the dinosaurs, but the disbelievers thought the 'thing' might only be a floating log.

A ordinary person, went to the cave of Hira', hoping to find peace. In the cave, he was interviewed with an angel sent by God ( Allah ), known as Gabriel ( Jibrail ). The angel told the man that he was the last prophet. The angel also thought the prophet how to read, but the prophet didn't know how. By this, The angel gave the prophet The book of God ( The Al- Quran ). He told what he had experienced. His wife and friends believed, but others didn't. A few days later, He was brought up to meet God is the journey, Isra' Mi'raj. The journey was done only in one night. He told everyone about the journey, but very few believed. But the prophet never lost hope. He still invited others to believe him. He even warned others about facing death, the results after death and about The Day of Judgement.'Till this day, The prophet achieved to invite 2/3 of the world in believing God's Religion, Islam. But there are still people who boycotted the religion, persucated the people, who believed in the religion and this war never seems to end. Although, only a few disbelievers did.  Why? Because some Muslims helped the disbelievers. By buying their food, items, follow their way of life and even, observed what they do.

All of the statements above, have something in common. All their effort on spreading their beliefs have their successes and failures. But why some didn't believe? Have your thoughts. So the question is are you a Believer or a Disbeliever?

Super Sauropods

 LONGEST,LARGEST,
TALLEST.

..and also the heaviest.
Meet the largest living creatures ever to dwell our planet. Although these giants, were enormous they all started up from eggs. And their eggs were extraordinary, some were as large as large as a soccer ball. Records of these sauropods are stated below:

  • Tallest : Sauroposeidon ( about 28 m )
  • Largest : Argentinosaurus ( about 25 elephants )
  • Heaviest : Argentinosaurus ( about 95 tonnes )
  • Longest : Seismosaurus ( around 45 m )
The golden age of sauropods was during the Jurassic period, when they were smaller during the Triassic.
They became bigger in the Cretaceous. The titanosaurs were the largest types. The diplodocids were the longest, with front legs smaller than the hind legs. Meanwhile the brachiosaurs evolved to be the tallest types
with the longer front legs than the hind legs.

Clash of the Titans

Location: around what is now Oklahoma ( U.S.A )
Time : around 110 million years ago
Contenders : Sauroposeidon & Acrocanthosaurus

Before Tyrannosaurus ruled North America, Acrocanthosaurus, a 5 tonne, spined-back relative of  Carcharodontosaurus, stalked the earth. With jaws containing a battery full of razor sharp teeth, this giant monster, would have preyed on a larger victim. Until in March 2000, a discovery of tall brachiosaur, described as Sauroposeidon was the tallest dinosaur ever estimated. This sauropod would have been an earth-shaker. Imagining a scenario of the two titans of the time. A preview on Acrocanthosaurus can be seen on the video below. Here are some facts on these dinosaurs;

Sauroposeidon

Name: »earthquake lizard god«
Length: 30 m
Height: 17 m
Weight: 35 – 40 tons
Diet: herbivore
Time: Cretaceous (110 MYA)
Location: North America

Acrocanthosaurus

Name: “high spined lizard”
Length: 13 m
Height: 5 m
Weight: 3.5 to 5 tons (3.200 to 4.500 kg)
Diet: carnivore
Time: Cretaceous (125-100 MYA)
Location: Southwestern United States

Utahraptor : Apex Predator

Perhaps the largest known dromaeosaur, Utahraptor  might be the largest predator of its time. Depending on its size it might have been a solitary hunter, but there are some evidence that they may also have hunted in packs, like other dromaeosaurids. Large sauropods of its time, such as Cedarosaurus and Brontomerus, are probably the suitable prey for these 'raptors'. Its huge 23 cm long, toe claw was of course its primary weapon. Its teeth and jaws weren't developed for tearing off flesh. Here are a few facts on Utahraptor;

Utahraptor

Name: »Utah thief«
Length: 6.5 m
Height: 2 m
Weight: 700 kg
Diet: carnivore
Time: Cretaceous (132-119 MYA)
Location: Utah ( U.S.A )

DINO-BIRDS

Discoveries in China shows various species of dinosaurs had feathers. The fossils dated about 125 million years. Discoveries of dinosaurs like, Caudipteryx, Microraptor, Beipiaosaurus, Sinornithosaurus, Mei, Dilong, Incisivosaurus, Sinosauropteryx and even Psittacosaurus, an early ancestor of Triceratops. Not all of these 'dino-birds' could use its feathers for flight. Unlike Microraptor and perhaps Sinornithosaurus. Their fossils are very-well preserved. The fossil of Mei, the dinosur with the shortest name, was discovered curled up in a sleeping posture, depending on its name, "soundly-sleepind dragon". The flight of Microraptor was more of gliding from tree to tree rather than airborn sky flyers. Larger "dino-birds" ,like Beipiaosaurus, might used its feathers for it to keep cool. But scientist thought the main usage of the feathers are for display, whether for attraction or defensive. These discoveries also gives scientist the opportunity to connect the line-wire between birds and dinosaurs. For more information go to BBC-Planet Dinosaur Episode 2: Feathered Dragons.
